AMHERST, N.Y. – Following months of preparation and construction, Buffalo Surgery Center – Endoscopy is now proudly serving its gastroenterology and colorectal patients in its new home, 3915 Sheridan Drive.
The milestone marks a new era of safer, more efficient, and more comfortable patient care. The new endoscopy unit features six procedures rooms and 15 patient bays. BSC’s 15 gastroenterology and colorectal surgeons will perform between 12,000 and 15,000 cases per year. Doctors will improve the lives of more patients and hope to save more lives through early detection thanks to the surgery center’s expanded capacity.
“We can’t be more excited to announce the opening of Buffalo Surgery Center’s new endoscopy center. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in industrialized nations and appropriate screening to allow early detection and prevention of CRC can substantially reduce morbidity and mortality rates,” said David Uba, CEO of Excelsior Orthopaedics and Buffalo Surgery Center. “National organizations agree that CRC screening is beneficial, and guidelines now recommend screenings for average risk individuals beginning at age 45. Our six state-of-the-art endoscopy procedure suites will help meet the explosive demand for high-quality, cost-effective CRC screening for colon cancer.”
The opening of Buffalo Surgery Center – Endoscopy at 3915 Sheridan Drive is also paving the way for the expansion of the orthopaedic surgery building. Construction is now underway at 3921 Sheridan Drive, where two more operating rooms and two additional procedure rooms (for a total of four new rooms) will be finished later this year to accommodate the increasing demand for joint replacement and orthopaedic surgery. The completion of that project will mark the end of several phases of growth at the Excelsior Orthopaedics and Buffalo Surgery Center campus in Amherst.
